WHAT WE BELIEVE
The Bible is the perfect, Holy word of God. 2 Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness," Hebrews 4:12 "For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." God the father, Son, and Holy Spirit is the one true holy, perfect, everlasting, all knowing, all powerful, all present God. God is the creator of all things. God created us and He loves us. Many people believe these facts. Many people think that knowing these facts will get them into heaven to be with the Lord forever when they die. Many people think that going to church will get them into heaven. But we have a problem. We have all rebelled against God. Instead of honoring God, each of us has wanted to be in charge. We have not done His will. We have broken His laws (the Ten Commandments). We have rebelled against God's love. We have not loved our neighbors, and we have not heard the cry of people who are in need. Whenever we are not in God's will, we sin. Our sin separates us from God. Romans 3:23 "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." We deserve punishment for our sins. But, God, in His mercy, sent Jesus Christ to take our sin upon Himself, to take the punishment we deserve, as the only perfect sacrifice for each of our sins. Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." 2 Corinthians 5:21 "God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God." John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. Ford God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him." This is good news! God has made a way for us to have eternal life with Him; to be saved; to be made right with Him through His son, Jesus Christ! This is the best gift from God ever! But a gift can only be used if it is accepted. God loves us and forgives us when we admit our sins to Him and ask Him to forgive us. 1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and will purify us from all unrighteousness." Did you know that the Lord is waiting for you to open the door of your heart to Him? Jesus says in Revelation 3:20: "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me." You can receive the gift of eternal life right now! You can talk to God and pray a prayer like this: Dear God, You are the Lord of lords and King of kinds. I know that I have sinned against you. I have not done your will. I have broken your laws. I have not loved you with my whole heart. I have not honored you. I am so sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you, Jesus, for taking my punishment on the cross, for dying for my sins, and for rising again. I ask you to be my Lord and Savior. Please fill my heart with your Holy Spirit. Help me to live for you and share your love. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen. God promises in John 1:12, "Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God." Trinity Pooler Church invites you to join us as we grow in our faith and share His love.
LEADERSHIP
MEET OUR PASTOR
Welcome to Trinity Pooler, Carolyn and I are blessed to serve here. We moved to Pooler in the summer of 2017 and have loved getting to know the church and the community. As former “Connecticut Yankees” we “saw the light” in 1981, when, after graduating from college, and getting married, we moved to Georgia. We have lived our entire married life here on the coast. First on St. Simons, then in Woodbine, and now here in Pooler. Being close to the beach is where we love to be. We have two adult children who are married to wonderful spouses. We are the proud grandparents of one grandson, Hank, who is in 7th grade and lives in Asheville, North Carolina with our son and daughter in-law. The most recent joy of our lives is granddaughter, Adeleine, who lives in the Dunwoody, Georgia with our daughter and son in-law. You can see a few pictures of our family here. Fortunately, our children get their looks (and brains) from their mother. For twenty-six years I owned my own business, a retail men’s clothing store on St. Simons, which I closed in 2012 to follow God’s call on my life to serve in ministry. Before going full-time, I served for 6½ years on staff at St. Simons, UMC as Minister of Discipleship and Associate Pastor. I received a Master's of Divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary, and I also have a Master's degree in Christian Counseling from Cornerstone University. I am also a UCONN Huskie having graduated with a BA in Business Administration. Each step of the way Carolyn has been by my side as my partner in life and ministry. Carolyn has been gifted by God in many ways. She is a phenomenal Bible teacher and uses her gift to teach women’s Bible studies. She also has this amazing gift of hospitality and makes people feel right at home the moment she meets them. I like to tell people you will love Carolyn and tolerate me. Our mission here at Trinity is to grow in our relationship with God and others. Whether you are married, divorced, single or widowed, Trinity Pooler wants to be your family. If either of us can be of any assistance to you please email me at pastortom.dent@yahoo.com We hope to meet you soon!
